Staments and Saints x2

I've had the opportunity to listen to new viewpoints a lot lately. To take in the way other people think and act. It is interesting to me the way some people can reason to themselves. I love it. Mainly because I know that someone else probably thinks the same of me. I know I do from time to time.
Or to listen to the contradictions in one's statements if you just let them talk long enough. It is not as though they are lieing, but it is as though they are trying incredibly hard to create a truth more like they want it to be. It goes through twists and turns and struggles. The statements of which they are aware that support their aim are repeated word for word. Others are more vague and twisted different ways throughout.
Oh, and funny funny people. You have the contradiction of what people are saying with their mouth and what their body language is saying. It's not that you should not trust them. If you give them the opportunity, you can see how both are true... The body tells the truth it wants. The emotional response. The mouth tells of the intellectual response, and what it is trying to do. Somewhere in the middle is the true truth. Because if one is winning, it begins to effect and sway the other....
I am not being as cryptic as it seems. I've just done a lot of people watching lately. I love it, it amuses me. I've been so into people watching, I've started watching myself in the same way. That is really interesting. Because I've always watched myself from My point of view before. I know why I do what I do. But for the past couple of weeks, I've been watching myself through Others' points of view. And seeing myself in a way someone else could see me. This is very entertaining.
And good for me, I'm sure.

Anyway, I'm done rambling. I actually researched yesterday, and was going to post when I got home but instead decided to crash. So, 2 today....

St James the Great

Patronage: against arthritis; against rheumatism; Antigua, Guatemala; apothecaries; arthritis sufferers; diocese of Bangued, Philippines; blacksmiths; Chile; Compostela, Spain; druggists; equestrians; furriers; Galicia, Spain; Guatemala; horsemen; knights; laborers; Loiza, Puerto Rico; Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Montreal, Canada; Nicaragua; pharmacists; pilgrims; Pistoia, Italy; rheumatoid sufferers; riders; Sahuayo, Mexico; soldiers; Spain; Spanish conquistadors; tanners; veterinarians

He's cool Because:

  • Was present during most of the recorded miracles of Christ.
  • For centuries, the Spanish army rode to battle with the cry "Santiago!" ("Saint James!")
  • Like all men of renown, many stories grew up around James. In one, he brought back to life a boy who had been unjustly hanged, and had been dead for five weeks. The boy's father was notified of the miracle while he sat at supper. The father pronounced the story nonsense, and said his son was no more alive than the roasted fowl on the table; the cooked bird promptly sat up, sprouted feathers, and flew away.

Prayers:
O Glorious Saint James, because of your fervor and generosity Jesus chose you to witness his glory on the Mount and his agony in the Garden. Obtain for us strength and consolation in the unending struggles of this life. Help us to follow Christ constantly and generously, to be victors over all our difficulties, and to receive the crown of glory in heaven. Amen.

Good prayer... There have been so many of those throughout this process....sigh.

St Joan of Arc

Patronage: captives; France; imprisoned people; martyrs; opposition of Church authorities; people ridiculed for their piety; prisoners; rape victims; soldiers; WACs; WAVES; Women Appointed for Voluntary Emergency Service; Women's Army Corps

  • Carrying a banner that read "Jesus, Mary", she led troops from one battle to another.
  • She was put on trial by an ecclesiastical court conducted by Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais, a supporter of England, and was executed as a heretic. In 1456 her case was re-tried, and Joan was acquitted (23 years too late).
  • "About Jesus Christ and the Church, I simply know they're just one thing, and we shouldn't complicate the matter." - Saint Joan of Arc, as recorded at her trial

No prayers. Sigh.
